Updates from LeicaLand – Lots! I’ve split them into M and L mount.

Leica M mount Lenses

  • (NEW) Light Lens Lab 50mm f2 Apochromatic (M) – Following the release of their new 35mm f2 APO lens LLL have announced that they are now developing a follow-up 50mm APO for 2027. I’ll be interested to see how it performs against the Voigtlander 50mm f2 APO-Lanthar (See that on YouTube).

  • (NEW) Funleader Artizlab Classic-M 50mm f1.4 (M) – Following the Mandler 50mm f1.4 “E46”, Artizlab have just announced their new lens based on the Leica Summilux 50mm f1.4 Pre-ASPH E43 lens. With a close focus of only 0.45m this is a fantastic time to be considering Leica M lenses for any camera. I will try to get this lens to review as I loved the Funleader Artizlab 35mm f1.4 (based on the 35mm Leica Summilux Pre-ASPH). See blog and YouTube video.

  • (NEW) Lailens lenses for Leica (M) – A company called Lailens just announced two new lenses for Leica M mount. Their Lailens 35mm f3.5 “White Queen” (Inspired by the classic British Dallmeyer 35mm f3.5) and their Lailens 50mm f1.5 Kino Plasmat (Inspired by the Kino Plasmat lens). If I can get more information or lenses to review I will share updates next month.

  • (NEW) SHOTEN Tribute 01 LTM 50mm f1.1 (LTM+M) – A brand that I know from their M42-M lens adapter also announced a new lens based on a classic. This will be dreamy super fast lens inspired by the Zunow 50mm f1.1. The fact that it’s native Leica screw mount with an M adapter included makes this a very interesting lens for those that enjoy screw mount cameras like myself.

  • (UPDATE) Light Lens Lab 35mm f2 “Apochromatic” (M) – I’ve just returned from a trip where I was testing this lens. YouTube video should be out next week. (Save 5% on LLL (and other brands), see discount codes).

  • (UPDATE) Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 90mm f4 “Close Focus” VM (M) – If you want to focus closer with your M camera check out this lens. Watch on YouTube. (If you’re based in the UK you can find this lens at Robert White once available).

  • (UPDATE) Mandler 50mm f.1.4 Pre-ASPH “E46” (M) – Following my first YouTube video testing the pre-production version, you can now check out the full head to head test. Final version (silver and black) Mandler lenses against the original Leica Summilux 50mm f1.4 pre-ASPH v3 lens. Watch on YouTube.

Leica L mount Lenses

  • (NEW) Sigma 85mm f1.2 DG Art (L) – Sigma just added the 85mm to their f1.2 Art lens line-up. If you want autofocus and a shallow depth of field lens for portraits this could be excellent. I was really impressed by the older Sigma 85mm f1.4 Art lens (See review on YouTube).
  • (NEW) Sigma 20–60mm f2.8–4 DG Contemporary (L) – This focal length reminds me of my Lumix 20-60mm kit lens that I got with my Lumix S5. 20-60mm is surprising useful as a 24-70mm zoom often requires you to carry an additional wide angle lens.
  • (NEW) Panasonic LUMIX S 20mm f2.5 (L) – New compact ultra wide prime from Lumix. With the release of multiple new Chinese lenses for Leica L mount Lumix seems to be making smaller lenses to compete with them. I never say no to a smaller lighter lens.
  • (NEW) Viltrox AIR AF Lenses (x4) (L) – Viltrox just announced four new lenses for Leica L mount. 14mm, 20mm, 40mm, and 50mm. I’ve been testing these behind the scenes for the last 6 weeks or so and the video should be out in the coming days. All the lenses are compact and lightweight so perfect for travel. Options include a 14mm f2.8, 20mm f2.8, 40mm f2.5 and 50mm f2. All priced under $200 they offer exceptional value for money. See the Viltrox website for more details and also check out their 28mm pancake lens (YouTube video).
  • (NEW) Brightin Star 50mm f2 TRI-SIGHT (L) – A new novelty lens design with 3 rendering modes – Smooth (more glow), Prime (standard) and Foams (bubble bokeh). Includes inserts for shaped bokeh. I know the brand from their 28mm pancake lens for M mount (See on YouTube).
  • (NEW) TTArtisan AF 85mm f1.8 NEO (L) – Another lens I’ve been quietly testing over the summer. This is the big brother to the 50mm f1.8 Neo. Not as compact but if you need a budget friendly portrait lens, you can’t say no for $99. Video is coming soon and check the TTArtisan website for more info.
  • (UPDATE) TTArtisan AF 50mm f1.8 NEO (L) – Following my YouTube review of the standard black lens, you can now buy it in both green and titanium finishes. Excellent compact lightweight nifty fifty for only $89. Crazy. Check the TTArtisan website for more info.
